What's in your kid's stuff?

You know how lots of bloggers show what's in their purse, their camera bag, their diaper bag, etc? I have a little girl that collects things. Tiny things. Really tiny things. And really random things. Look.

A chip clip. I wonder where the chips are?
Random plastic tiny Christmas ornaments.
A wind-up penguin.
Two fuzzy pom poms.

One of those tiny plastic finger puppet pumpkins.

A Barbie sandal. See it next to the B?

A recipe (vintage, no less...haha!) for Italian pastry....told you this would be random.

And a little teeny birdie. Maybe he helped her gather all these things for a nest? All of this tucked into a vintage plastic canvas Christmas house we found at the thrift shop. I cant pack her Easter basket up either because she uses it to gather treasures too. She loves sorting through her findings when it's really time to go nite nite.
What's in your kid's Christmas house/basket/Target sack/purse/horse pouch/whatever they can find to collect things in?

Summer means fun to-do lists...

We are finally finished with testing at school, and I think I am just as happy about that as the kids are.  Two more weeks and three days of classes, and we are outta there for the summer.  Yay!  (That means I can go to estate sales on Thursdays instead of waiting until the weekend...eeep!!!) Miss Cassie told me that we should start making lists of summer goals and things we want to get done, so I'm starting with these few things (all be it that some of them are pretty steep goals):

Fill my neglected Etsy shop with stuff that vintage freaks can't help but love, that will inspire them to create, and sprinkle your blog roll with at least two paper DIYs or vintage ideas each week.

Renegade, you are in my sight...I'm not sure how far, but you're there. I would love for you to be my second job.

Silhouette, are you listening?  I want one. My paper needs you. I'll keep cutting with other tools until you hear me.  OK?
Read one book each week.  I just checked out these from the school library for the summer:

Thirteen Reasons Why
How Not to be Popular
Prada and Prejudice
Suck It UP
(teen authors make my reading heart happy these should try them)

Set aside lots of fun time with my kiddos. Swimming, library, park, and when it gets too hot, ice cream and a cute movie.
Clean out all the closets in the house.  Wanna help?  That's gonna be a that will throw the summer schedule off kilter for a few days.
What do you have going on?
Here are some random things on the side:
I found out that there is almost nothing better than a wedding cake smoothie.  Yum. And, that, an aloe shot, and a green tea chaser make you feel really good.

Remember my neighborhood's kickball game?  We are going to play it tomorrow at school too.  Yay!

Melissa got the cutest little kitty in the world. Well, besides my two little fuzzy butts.
I read the cutest book last week:
And I got a great cookbook:

See you soon!

I'm coming home...

You're a dear! Gosh, thank you for all of the sweet comments about our kickball game!  I'm hoping we have a summer full of that kind of stuff around here (well, before the brutal Texas heat kicks in).  It's so nice to live in a neighborhood where the kids play like that almost every day, and go from house to house to house without worry, other than the mommas screaming at them to watch for cars.  What a blessing!

I've missed writing here. I'm finishing up some testing, some grading, and some extracurricular activities at school this week, so it is going to be chicken one day and feathers the next!  Haha! School is almost out, though, and then I can go full force with my twice daily posting and with my paper shop as well. New things coming (and still some to be photographed and listed).

I have some new friends in my right side bar, so go say hi! See you in a few days!  Relay for Life is this weekend...I'm sure that staying up all night will yield some awesome pictures. Haha!

p.s. I can't remember where I found this photo; if you know, please tell me! :)

Old school kickball in my neighborhood...

I swear, we did not make him do this, Ann.  Haha! Save it for his first date.  :)

It's not very often that you see a neighborhood full of kids playing kickball after school, with one of the dads coaching and refereeing the game (he also broke for commercials that he made up, hence the video, haha!).  We had 14 kids from our street and a few other close ones having a ball, literally.  Katie kept riding her bike through the middle of the game and the kids would just stop and watch her...haha! So cool to see them kick it, old school. I wish more kids in more neighborhoods got out and played like this.  I think there would be a lot less mischief going on.  Don't you remember playing?

Dude...that's not roll it...

Ugh...I tried so hard to get caught up and get tons of commenting and reading done on all my favorite blogs.  I can't beat myself up too much...I did get some done!  But still more to go, and I failed getting the posts up here to show you how much I love them.  So no blog roll every day like I said.  I think that's the story of my life lately.  Not that I don't intend to get wrapped up in the shuffle, I just do.  Do you ever feel like that? Anyway, all I could think of was this video...what the cat says..."Dude, that's not roll it..."

Soon, though, I'll be rollin' it...just you wait and see (really, I'm telling myself that).  As soon as school gets out.

Meet my friends!  Some of them don't even know it, but I stalk their blogs (creeper)...haha! Gosh, I've missed these girls.  I got some serious reading done today, and here are some posts to share, that I hope inspire and give you the desire to go give some blog hugs too.

First up, Campfire Chic!  She's one of the masterminds behind the 30 Days of Lists Challenge...and they are about to light the fire again.

Back in a bit with two more!  For now, go read!  And, yay, Cassie, for taking on this little endeavor with me!  :)

Long, lost blog friends...every day...all week!!!

I have been MIA from my blogging friends, and I miss them.  I really miss them.  So I've decided that every day this week, I will visit four blogs and read what I have missed, and leave comments to show them that I still think they are the shiz and that I still love what they share, write, and do.  Then I will turn right around and share with you my four favorite posts from their blogs, and spread some virtual hugs and kisses and hope that you might find some new friends too.  These will be all from my current reader list, so you might have heard me mention them, or you might not have, but I love them just the same.  Stick around...lots of fun to be had around here this week! Feel free to join me...don't you miss your friends, too?

Meet Little Miss (Yard Sale) America

I've mentioned before that we have taken little missy to yard and estate sales ever since she was teeny tiny. Here is what all of our hard work at training her from such a young age has created:

Haha!  We had a yard sale yesterday and she ran it (in other words, told me what I could an could not sell from her room that is desperate need of a good cleaning out). And here she is in the evening gown competition modeling for our yard sale customers.
She's making sure she promotes household peace and that we get rid of all this junk that came out of our home.  We wound up giving up for the most part and donating the lot of it.  That's her charitable contribution, isn't it?  She won the award and carries her title proudly.  It's much easier to SHOP a sale than HAVE one, no?

How Feed the Birdies flew in....

Once upon a time two little boys ate Happy Meals in the middle seat of a Ford minivan. Not quite willing to eat the last few fries, they launched them out the door screaming, "feed the birdies!!" And so my journal of a road through motherhood and wifedom, with a little bit of crafting on the side...where everybirdy gets a french fry. And we're all happy about it.
